LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie (LFL) Lady Doggers volleyball team rounded out the regular season on a high note with a pivotal 3-1 victory against Niobrara County High School (NCHS) at home on Friday, October 25.
LFL rallied following a setback in the first set against Niobrara County. Digging deep, the Lady Doggers battled back to triumph in the next three neck-and-neck sets.
LFL enters the upcoming 1A regional tournament in Guernsey the No. 2 seed in the southeast quadrant with a 7-2 conference record. The Lady Doggers open regionals with a game against the No. 3 seed, Midwest, on Friday, November 1 at 1:30 p.m.
LFL’s victory against Niobrara County followed the second cross-county rivalry game against the Southeast Lady Cyclones on Thursday. LFL fell in three sets to the Lady Cyclones: 25-16, 25-20 and 25-19.

The Lady Tigers pulled ahead to win the first set, 25-18.
LFL found its footing in the second set. Early kills by juniors Hallie Fuller and Skyla Wunder placed the Lady Doggers up, 4-3. A second kill by Wunder broke a tie at four.
The lead continued to bounce back and forth. LFL tied the set at nine with a kill from junior Jordynn Speckner and again at 11 following a kill by senior Brenly Shipp.
Niobrara County edged ahead, 11-9, before Fuller slammed over a kill and Shipp aced a serve to tie the set at 13.
Niobrara County regained the lead, 14-13. LFL responded with a kill by Fuller and the set deadlocked, 14-14. A kill by Jordynn Speckner pulled the Lady Doggers up, 15-14.
Niobrara County matched LFL in scoring at 15. Wunder fired off a kill and the Lady Doggers led, 16-15.
Following a stalemate at 16, LFL took the initiative at 17 and widened its lead, 18-16, with a block by Shipp and Jordynn Speckner.
The set tied two more times at 18 and 19, respectively. LFL gained control of the scoreboard for good at 20 when Shipp powered over a kill.
Shipp delivered two more kills and aced a serve, taking the Lady Doggers to 24. Wunder powered over a kill for game point, 25-21.
The Lady Doggers opened the third set with a 7-2 run, including kills from sophomore Charlotte Speckner and senior Kenzi Wilkins, blocks by Charlotte Speckner and Wunder and a pair of aces from Fuller.
A kill and block by Shipp took LFL to 11. Charlotte Speckner reached up for a block and Shipp set a point over. Fuller scored 14 with a kill.
Niobrara County pulled up to tie the set at 14. LFL recaptured the lead, 16-14, with a kill from Jordynn Speckner.
Niobrara County responded with a four-point run to gain the lead, 18-16. LFL narrowed the Lady Tigers’ lead to a single point, 20-19, following two kills by senior Grace Gibson.
Charlotte Speckner delivered a pair of kills and the Lady Doggers found themselves up again, 21-20. LFL remained in the lead by three, 24-21, with two kills by Shipp. The Lady Doggers scored game point, 25-23, when Niobrara County sent the ball out returning a serve by Fuller.
The lead switched hands several times early in the fourth set. Gibson broke a stalemate at seven with a kill.
Niobrara County tied the set at eight before pulling up, 12-8. LFL responded with kills by Jordynn Speckner, Gibson and Charlotte Speckner and a block from Shipp and Charlotte Speckner to match NCHS in scoring, 12-12.
Charlotte Speckner defended the net with a block and LFL moved into the lead, 13-12.
The Lady Doggers remained ahead with kills by Shipp, Wunder, Charlotte Speckner and Jordynn Speckner. Niobrara County sent the ball into the net returning a serve by Wilkins. An error by the Lady Tigers resulted in game point, 25-21.
Shipp led the LFL offense with 11 kills. Wunder contributed nine kills, Jordynn Speckner and Gibson seven and Fuller six.
Shipp and Fuller both aced three serves with Wilkins serving up one ace.
The combo of Wunder and Shipp delivered 19 and 18 assists, respectively.
Jordynn Speckner covered the floor with 31 digs while Wilkins posted 21 digs.
The Lady Doggers’ defense excelled at blocking with 17 against NCHS. Shipp led with 10 blocks, while Charlotte Speckner contributed eight with two each by Wunder and Fuller.
