Lady Cyclones open the season with two wins

DOUGLAS – The Southeast Lady Cyclones opened the season with a 2-4 weekend at the Douglas Invite on Friday and Saturday.

Southeast picked up wins over Class 3A Moorcroft and Glenrock.

On Friday, the Lady Cyclones opened the weekend up against Class 3A No. 5-ranked Douglas, 25-14, 25-18.

Senior Kylee Llewellyn led the team with four kills, while junior Brooklyn Leithead and sophomore Hadley Leithead had three each. Hadley Leithead also had a team-high two stuff blocks. Keana Llewellyn had eight assists, while senior Baylie Booth had six. Junior Angie Logsdon, Hadley Leithead and Booth had one ace each.

Southeast bounced back with a win over Moorcroft 25-11, 25-13 in game two.

Logsdon and Kylee Llewellyn had seven kills each, while Brylie Booth had four. Brooklyn Leithead had three blocks. Baylie Booth dished out 11 assists and served up two aces.

In the final match of Friday’s pool play, Southeast came up short in three sets to Alliance, Nebraska, 25-19 24-26, 15-6.

Brylie Booth led the team with five kills, while Kylee Llewellyn, Hadley Leithead and Logsdon had four each. Brooklyn Leithead tallied six blocks to lead the team. Southeast had 16 blocks for the match. Baylie Booth dished out 11 assists. Baylie Booth and Tylar Stoddard had one ace each.

In the first round of Saturday’s bracket play, the Lady Cyclones came up short 25-23, 25-22 to Class 2A No. 2 ranked Big Horn.

Kylee Llewellyn led the offensive attack with nine kills, while Brooklyn Leithead had five. Brooklyn also had three blocks. Keana Llewellyn had 11 assists, while Baylie Booth had 10.

In the second round of bracket play, Southeast fell to Torrington in three sets, 26-24, 22-25, 15-12.

Hadley Leithead recorded a team-high eight kills, while Brooklyn Leithead tallied six of the team’s 16 blocks. Keana Llewellyn handed out nine assists, while Stoddard served up two aces.

In the final match of the weekend, the Lady Cyclones beat Glenrock 25-9, 25-14.

The Lady Cyclones return to action at Kaycee on Saturday, Sept. 2. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
