TORRINGTON – Mass of Christian Burial for Joe H. Reyes, 93, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at Saint Rose Catholic Church with Father Ray Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. 

Joe joined his beloved wife Eva, on March 14, 2025, at the Garden Square Assisted Living in Casper. Memorials may be given to either the Saint Rose Catholic Church or the Guadalupe Society. 

A Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. prior to the mass. Visitation will be at the Colyer Funeral Home on Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.

Jose Hernandez Reyes, known to many as Joe was born November 2, 1931, in Encarnacion de Diaz, Jalisco, Mexico. He passed leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication and love for his family. He moved to the United States as a young boy and began working on farms in New Mexico and Texas. After a brief return to Mexico, he returned to the U.S. at the age of 20 and made his way to Wyoming in the early 1950s. 

In Wyoming Joe worked diligently, first picking potatoes in the Yoder and Huntley areas before spending twenty-seven years working at Torrington Cement Products. During this time, he proudly built the home he lived in for the remainder of his life. He later worked for Scott and Son Construction until his retirement.

On May 25, 1955, Joe married Geneva Velasquez. Together they had five children: John, Debbie, Irene, Michael and Lydia. Joe was deeply committed to ensuring his children received a good education.

Joe is survived by his children; John (Pam) Reyes of Casper, Debbie (Greg) Reid of Casper, Irene (Garry) Reese of Torrington, Michael Reyes of Cheyenne and Lydia (Sam) Garcia of Clovis, New Mexico; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Eva Reyes.
