MITCHELL, Neb. – Torrington residents Gary Hunter and Dan Heilbrun competed in the pro-stock pickup 4x4 class Thursday in the Heartland truck and tractor pull at the Scotts Bluff County Fair.
“We did pretty good there,” Hunter said of the Mitchell pull. “We are dialed in pretty well.”
Hunter recorded a pull of 302.7 feet, which is a full pull (more than 300 feet). Heilbrun was not far behind his pulling mate, carding a pull of 301.5 feet. Heilbrun broke the rear end in his truck but had it rebuilt and ready for more pulling after a couple hours of work.
Hunter and Heilbrun also took their trucks to Cheyenne over the weekend for a pull and had even better results. Hunter took first in the class with a pull of 347 feet and Heilbrun slid into second with a pull of 336 feet.
“It was pretty muddy over there and it all depended on how you started out of the hole,” Hunter said. “It worked out for us.”
