Hoopsters clinch 3A all-state/all-conference

TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School Lady Blazers and Blazers basketball team swept the 3A postseason awards from the Wyoming Coaches Association following successful seasons. Seven athletes garnered 3A East all-conference honors with three earning honorable mention. Two athletes captured 3A all-state awards.

Lady Blazers

Teryn Stokes

Awards: 3A all-state (earned award in 2024) and 3A East all-conference (earned award 2023 and 2024) and all-defensive team

Key stats: 178 season points, 198 rebounds (team leader), 36 assists, 41 steals and 10 blocks (team leader)

Highlight performances: Fourteen rebounds versus Wheatland on January 23 and three blocks against Cody on December 14

Stokes was the “heartbeat” for the Lady Blazers, coach Chris Strampe said.

“I could always look to Teryn for leadership in a variety of moments,” Strampe added. “She has been remarkably consistent over the past three seasons as a starter, averaging eight points and nine rebounds (per game).”

Stokes was chosen for the all-defensive team for her skills at shutting down “much taller” post players, Strampe noted.

“Teryn’s ability to outwork everyone else on the court and do it with a positive attitude resonated with everyone who watches her play and she deserves every honor she gets,” Strampe continued.  “I can’t wait to follow along on her basketball journey at Chadron State.”

Jaycee Hurley

Awards: 3A East all-conference (earned award in 2024)

Key stats: 160 points, 78 assists (team leader), 46 steals and two blocks

Highlight performances: Shot 100 percent from the free-throw line (7-for7) against Rawlins on February 28 and delivered seven assists versus Burns on February 22.

Hurley rose up as a leader on the Lady Blazers team over the past three years.

“Jaycee persevered through some difficult moments in her career to get to this level,” coach Strampe wrote. “She truly embodies the unselfish nature of our team and really stepped into her role as the primary facilitator on our offense, finishing in the top five in the state for assists per game (3.1).”

Strampe praised Hurley’s “maturity and focus” as a primary contributor to the Lady Blazers’ success in the final stretch of the season.

“Jaycee is currently deciding where she will play basketball collegiately and I know she will be a great asset to whatever program she chooses,” Strampe added.

Olive Osmera

Awards: 3A East all-conference

Key stats: 144 points, 57 rebounds, 26 assists, 50 steals (team leader) and two blocks

Highlight performances: 67-percent shooting from the outside against Buffalo (February 8) and Wheatland (February 20); seven steals versus Rawlins on January 31

Coach Strampe described Osmera as an “exceptional” athlete.

“Olive always plays with intensity and effort,” Strampe remarked. “She led our team in steals on the season and was always an outside shooting threat that other teams had to account for.”

Osmera started for the Lady Blazers for three years.

“I am proud of her resilience and willingness to always put the team first. I’m excited to watch her continue her careers in volleyball and basketball at EWC this upcoming year.”

Natalie Long

Awards: 3A East all-conference and all-defensive team (earned award in 2024)

Key stats: 247 points (team leader), 82 rebounds, 53 assists and 50 steals (team leader)

Highlight performances: Scored 18 points versus Glenrock (January 11) and Burns (January 17) and snagged six steals against Burns on February 22

Long excelled on the defensive side of the court.

“Natalie has always used her defense to fuel her game and it was awesome to see her be recognized again as an all-defensive team member,” coach Strampe said. “To be selected for that award twice before one’s senior year is an incredible accomplishment.”

Long also “leveled up” offensively, Strampe added, leading the Lady Blazers in scoring with 10 points per game.

“I am proud of the growth and maturity she showed this season and know that she is in store for even greater things her senior year.”

Honorable mention

Lady Blazers senior Madix McIntosh and junior Kennedy Reinhardt both received 3A East all-conference honorable mention.

“Kennedy and Madix had great years offensively and both hit some huge buckets down the stretch at regionals and state,” coach Strampe said. “They were always ready to step up and provide whatever the team needed in that moment. These two players owned their roles and played a huge part in our success this year.”

Blazers

Landre Greiman

Awards: 3A all-state, 3A East all-conference and all-defensive team

Key stats: 283 points (team leader), 128 rebounds, 70 assists (team leader), 58 steals and eight blocks

Highlight performances: Scored 23 points versus Burns (February 22) and Rawlins (February 28) and delivered six assists against Douglas (February 14) and Burns (February 22)

Greiman went “above and beyond” throughout the 2024-2025 season, coach Logan Barker said.

“Landre took our program standards to heart and made darn sure everyone else was following suite,” Barker added. “There were times this year he could have given in to the pressure that comes with being a leader but he never did. Instead, he persisted.”

Barker called Greiman the “heartbeat” of the team.

“We went as he went,” Barker remarked. “Landre was well aware he could not have a bad day and he didn’t. He separated himself on the offensive and defensive ends by being relentless. His engine is non-stop.”

Mac Hibben

Awards: 3A East all-conference

Key stats: 262 points, 166 rebounds (team leader), 41 assists, 64 steals (team leader) and 18 blocks (team leader)

Conference/all-class leader: No. 1 in conference for steals (2.6 per game)

Highlight performances: Seven steals versus Wheatland on January 23 and 16 rebounds against Rawlins on January 31

Hibben served as a leader on the team in a “watch what I do and go do the same” role, coach Barker said.

“Mac was always willing to step in and help others if they needed but he also was not afraid to confront those who were not living up to our standard,” Barker noted. “Mac was probably our most consistent player this season, throwing in around 10 points per game and around seven rebounds per game, every game. Very rarely did he step off his path.”

Julian Stromski

Awards: 3A East all-conference

Key stats: 266 points, 85 rebounds, 37 assists, 36 steals and three blocks

Key performances: Scored 19 points versus Worland, shooting 75 percent from the field (December 13); four 3-pointers against Worland on December 13

Stromski took the 3A conference “by storm” this season, coach Barker remarked.

“I had a lot of coaches, especially on the west side, as me, ‘Where did this kid come from?’” Barker wrote. “He was a surprise to everybody except those close to Julian. He lives in the gym and just from open gyms alone, he made over 17,000 shots between June and August. Julian is going to be a big problem for the next two years and I have no doubt he will only be improving his skill.”

Honorable mention

Senior Weston Dyer bagged 3A East all-conference honorable mention for the season.

“Weston came to us from Show Low, Arizona, as a junior,” coach Barker said. “He immediately stepped in a role and made our team better. His on-ball defense and ability to make things happen on the offensive end really gave us an extra edge. Not only is Weston a great basketball player, but his character off the court is truly special. We are really lucky to have him in Torrington.”
