GILLETTE – The Torrington Lady Blazers sixth-grade girls basketball team battled their way to the championship game in the Silver Division at the Pinnacle Bank Shootout in Gillette on Sunday, February 23, to defeat Worland and capture the title.

The tournament was sponsored by the Wyoming Youth Basketball Association and took place on Saturday and Sunday, February 23-24.

Torrington defeated teams from Rapid City, South Dakota, Douglas, South Dakota and Gillette to advance to the finals on Sunday.

Torrington squared off against Worland, a team the Lady Blazers fell to earlier in the tournament, in the title game. Torrington controlled the scoreboard to defeat Worland, 28-20, and claim the championship.

Kendra Stienmetz, Jennifer Reimers and Maggie Myers coach the Torrington girls’ sixth-grade team.

The roster includes Makenzee Bugher, Demi Curry, Braelyn Fronapple, Reese Hendricks, Paisley Martin, Kayleeanne Meachum, Kassidie Myers, Harper Reimers, Zaevrie Rios and Julia Stienmetz.
