Historical Society hosts fort experts

TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Historical Society will be hosting two guest speakers during their March 26 meeting held in the Platte Valley Bank community room at 7 p.m.

Casey Osbeck, chief of interpretation and visitor services at Fort Laramie National Historic Site, will present on the mystery of Fort Laramie and Carter Unverzagt will present on the mystery of Fort William. 

“Fort William was the first fur trading post that was established here (Goshen County) in 1834,” according to the Fort Laramie National Historic Site. “They don’t know exactly where it was at. We know it was right around here (Fort Laramie). But they don’t know the definite location of this is where it was.”  

The event is free of charge.
