TORRINGTON – Helen A. Brummell (Brownie) died peacefully, Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington. Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will take place at a later date.
Brownie was born on September 13, 1931, in Moorcroft. She and her two sisters, Letha and Glenna spent their younger years growing up around the Devil’s Tower area. In later years, they were raised by Lyle and Edith Poole in Torrington.
Brownie attended school in Torrington and went on to attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.
She married Joe Brummell of Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 12, 1952. Together they had four children, Ed, Lynnie, Susie and Holly.
Down through the years, Brownie worked at many vocations, substitute teacher, New Mexico Department of Corrections. Once returned to Torrington, she owned Taco John’s. Her most enjoyable job had to be working at the Goshen County court.
Brownie is survived by her three children, Ed (Lorraine) of Torrington, Susie (Kevin) of Torrington, Holly (Matt) of Torrington. Twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Sister Dottie Sue (Sissy). Three brothers, Tommy (Georgia), Denver (Rose), and Jamie, all of Poplar, Montana, and several nieces and nephews.
Helen is preceded in death by her daughter, Lynnie, her parents, Lyle and Edith Poole, her granddaughter, Cori Jean, her sisters, Letha Bible, Glenna Madden, her brothers J.D. and Bobby Atkinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be established at Waggin’ Tails Animal Shelter in Torrington.
