GUERNSEY – Looking for an exciting way to get outdoors this spring?

Guernsey State Park is hosting its 2025 Trail Challenge, featuring a different hike around the park each month of the year. Hikers can earn a collector’s pin for each completed hike and a t-shirt for completing all twelve. While participants don’t have to follow the schedule, all 12 hikes must be completed by the end of the year.

For those seeking a group activity or who are new to hiking, the park offers a guided hike each month for that month’s designated trail.

Torrington hiker Brandy Steinbrecher has been following the Trail Challenge schedule and encourages others to join in.

“The solitude and views at Guernsey State Park make it one of my favorite places to visit. The hiking challenge has been a fun excuse to bring my family along and meet up with friends,” Steinbrecher said.

It’s not too late to join the fun! March’s hike is the Lucinda Rollins/Oregon Trail Ruts Trail, one of the park’s easier hikes, showcasing both natural beauty and a historical reminder of how the past has shaped the landscape. This month’s guided hike is on Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m. The group will meet at the parking lot near the Riverwalk, just past the bridge on the edge of Guernsey.

For more information or to sign up for the Trail Challenge, visit Guernsey State Park on Facebook or call 307-836-2334.
