Gary Flock

TORRINGTON – No services will be held at this time for Gary Flock, 82, who died at his home on January 10, 2024. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to Goshen County 4-H. The Colyer Funeral Home assisted the family with the cremation arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.  

Gary was born January 11, 1941 in Scottsbluff, the son of Theodore and Lillian (Altig) Flock. The family lived north of Morrill. In 1944 they moved north of Lingle, and he grew up and attended school in Lingle, graduating in 1960. 

While in high school Gary enjoyed 4-H stock judging events and one event won him and four others a trip to Chicago to represent Wyoming at the National 4-H judging contest. Gary attended Goshen County Community College for two years and he then went to work at the Turner Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming until he was drafted into the Army. He returned in 1965 from his tours of Vietnam to the family farm and farmed until his death. Gary enjoyed pitching horse shoes, square dancing, and golf. He was involved in Suffolk sheep and selling of the sheep at the annual sheep sale. He was a member of the Stock Growers Association and was involved in the lamb BBQ at the Goshen County Fair.

Gary is survived by his sister-in-law Beverly Flock of Torrington; sisters Sharon Utter of Wheatland and Theil Ryan of Torrington; a niece Sandra Utter of Pine Bluffs; and nephews Wade (Angie) Utter of Wheatland and Shawn Ryan of Lingle. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother O’Leary; and brothers-in-law Alan Utter and Larry Ryan.
