TORRINGTON – Deep inside the gymnasium at Torrington High School, “Blazer Time” looked a bit different to the freshman class as they participated in an awards assembly followed by snacks and games.
Alan Van Tilburg, school principal, was bound and determined to recognize the students for their achievements scholastically by the student’s excellent attendance records and ability to show up on time in hopes to spark even more pride in the subject for fellow students.
The freshman class piled into the gym where Van Tilburg and Gabe Bartlett, dean of students, announced the students who had not been absent for the month of November, the list of students who did not have any tardies and the list of students who had not been absent or tardy for the month during the assembly. Students were selected for prizes such as gift certificates to area businesses or a candy bar at the concession stand, but more importantly, Van Tilburg stress, the students were able to spend their “Blazer Time” playing games, listening to music and interacting with fellow classmates.
The following freshman had no tardies in November: Emily Audette, Colton Becker, Audreanna Briggs, Caden Carlson, Tatum Carlson, Ian Ciemnoczolowski, Rowyn Connelly, Ryleigh Connelly, Serena Correa, Douglas Cunningham, Olivia Edmunds, Adam Ellis, Kaynie Hackbarth, Ty Haeffelin, Camilla Harrison, Logan Hellus, Grace Hibben, Khloe Hisquierdo, Nolan Hunter, Hadassah Huntington, David Ibarra, Cruz Lopez, Zach Mackay, Gage McMurray, Julie Merrow, Cayson Morris, Ellis Mortimore, Paxtyn Rude, Kendal Schmidt, Brech Shannon, Sophie Sinner, Peiton Sweet, Skylen Teague, Iris Terrones, Karis Walker and Brielle Wolfe.
The following freshman were recognized for no absences in the month of November: Bella Ash, Emily Audette, Audreanna Briggs, Makayla Burkart, Taya Burney, Ian Ciemnoczolowski, Rowyn Connelly, Ryleigh Connelly, Adam Ellis, Alejandra Felipe, Ty Haeffelin, Garrett Hager, Camilla Harrison, Khloe Hisquierdo, Nolan Hunter, Hadassah Huntington, Jadah Jacobson, Cruz Lopez, Brooklyn Makenzie, Gage McMurray, Julie Merrow, Ellis Mortimore, Sophie Sinner, Skylen Teague, Ayden Tompkins, Taya Burney and Karris Walker.
