Farmer’s market to kick off

TORRINGTON – On Thursday, August 1, during Goshen County Day, the community is in for a real treat as the Torrington Farmer’s Market begins their 2024 market schedule during the Goshen County Fair. Markets are scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“The Torrington Farmer’s Market will kick off on August 1 at the Goshen County Fairgrounds, bringing together a diverse array of vendors in the Frontier Shelter,” the market’s website reads. “Visitors can explore and purchase various locally produced goods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade crafts, and artisanal products.”

Don’t worry, Saturday’s kickoff event is just the beginning of the Torrington area markets, the website explains.

“This event begins a vibrant season of community engagement and support for local farmers, crafters, and artisans,” the website explained.

Markets will be held on Thursdays, and they will also be held on the second Saturday of the month.

“The Torrington Farmer’s Market is back at Jirdon Park, now open every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Bring the whole family for an enjoyable evening out – splashing around in the pool and explore the market’s diverse selection of fresh produce, homemade goods, and artisanal products,” the website explained. “It’s the perfect way to support local farmers and crafters while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the park.”

On the second Saturday of each month, the market will be held downtown Torrington.

“Please note that the Torrington Farmer’s Market will not be held on Thursdays during the second Saturday of each month. Instead, we will move to the downtown Torrington Municipality Parking Lot, where you can find us from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.,” the website explained. “This special monthly event provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the market in a different setting, offering the same great selection of fresh produce, homemade goods, and artisanal products. Shop downtown and experience the farmer’s market all in one weekend.”

The market is proud to host a diverse array of vendors, according to their website, and their market features the freshest fruits and vegetables grown in Goshen County.

“In addition to fresh produce, our market includes local artisans and crafters showcasing their handmade goods,” the market’s website explained. “These talented vendors offer a range of products, including homemade jams, freshly baked bread, and delicious honey. You can also discover beautiful, handcrafted items such as pottery, jewelry, and textiles that reflect the creativity and skill of our local artisans.”

Have something you could share with the community? Vendor spots are $25 for the season.

The market season ends on November 1.
