The EWC Lancers rodeo team rounded out the season with strong performances at the University of Wyoming rodeo.

LARAMIE – The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) rodeo team concluded the 2024-2025 season at the Laramie River Rendezvous hosted by the University of Wyoming from April 25-27.
Overall, it was a great weekend for the Lancers to end the season. The EWC women’s team finished the UW rodeo in fourth place while the men’s team finished ninth.
In steer wrestling, sophomore Taydon Gorsuch of Gering won the long-go with a snappy 4.3-second run. On Sunday, Gorsuch ran a faster time of 4.1 seconds to place first in the average.
Sophomore Jace Hurlburt from Arcadia, Nebraska, had a good weekend in breakaway roping. Hurlburt won the long-go with a quick run of 1.9 seconds. On Sunday, the sophomore had some tough luck to place sixth in the average.
Freshman Tommie Martin also had a good run of 2.2 seconds in breakaway roping to tie for fifth-ninth. In the short-go, Martin had another consistent run of 2.9 seconds to place third.
In goat tying, freshman Abby Collen of Manitoba had a quick run in the long round at 7.3 seconds to tie for sixth, seventh and eighth. On Sunday, the freshman had another great run or 7.5 seconds to place sixth in the average.
Sophomore Colton Zimmerman of Wellington, Colorado, put down a 9.9-second run to land fourth coming into the short-go for calf tying. Zimmerman had a 12.2-second run on Sunday to finish sixth in the average.
In bareback riding, freshman Cian Daly of Saskatchewan scored a 66-point ride on Friday to place eighth in the long-go. On Sunday, the freshman had a 68-point ride to place eighth and ninth in the average.
Freshman Trey Shadlock tied for seventh and eighth in the long-go for saddle bronc riding with a 77-point ride. In the short-go, Shadlock scored a 66-point ride to place eighth.
In team roping, sophomore Wyatt Hajny had a good run in the long round with his partner Teige Whitham from LCCC. Hajny and Whitham laid down a 9.6-second run to place eighth.
The EWC rodeo team would like to thank all those who supported it throughout the season.
Final regional standings
• Bareback riding: Cian Daly 12th with 35 points.
• Saddle bronc riding: Trey Shadlock 12th with 125 points and Clay Nyhus 17th at 55.
• Tie-down roping: Carter Anderson fifth with 370 points and Colton Zimmerman 12th with 250.
• Breakaway roping: Jace Hurlburt 15th with 145 points.
• Steer wrestling: Taydon Gorsuch ninth with 320 points, Wyatt Hajny 18th with 95 and Teagan Gorneau 19th at 90.
• Team roping – header: Carter Anderson fourth with 275 points, Jace Hurlburt 11th at 210 and Brenna Herring 15th at 170.
• Team roping – heeler: Dalton Moore fourth with 275 points, Nick Albrecht eighth with 220, Eli Leppel ninth at 210 and Teagan Gorneau 20th at 115.
• Bull riding: Eli Leppel seventh with 120 points.
• Barrel racing: Griffin Grooms sixth with 365 points, Kamryn Kocian 15th with 145 and Kennedy McClellan 17th at 110.
• Men’s all-around: Carter Anderson sixth
• Final team standings: EWC men’s team seventh and women’s team sixth.
