CASPER –Elizabeth “Liz” Fox Korhonen, age 86, died Monday, July 22, 2024, at St. Mary’s Highland Hills in Watkinsville, Georgia following an extended illness.
Liz was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma to the late Francis J. Fox and Velma K. Fox. She graduated from high school in Casper and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming in 1960.
Liz considered herself a pro at packing and moving, having moved 20 times during her husband’s Army career. Liz loved people and enjoyed volunteering with the Council for Aging and Aiken County Library. She was an avid reader and bridge player.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 64 years, John Korhonen, daughters, Kisa Raye and Mary Paige Kurilla, son-in-law, Erik Kurilla, and grandchildren, Jackie, Hunter-Ashley, Michelle, and Sophie.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 3 p.m. in the Historic George Funeral Home Downtown Chapel with Dr. Tim McClendon officiating.
Interment will take place on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, South Carolina, 29229.
The family will receive friends at the Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, South Carolina, 2980, (803) 649-6234 on Sunday afternoon, July 28, 2024, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.
