TORRINGTON – Downtown Torrington’s Creating Our Front Door Community Mural is complete.
Wyoming muralist Jordan Dean painted the mural on the south-facing wall of the Vistabeam building, where it greets motorists entering downtown Torrington from the south. The project was initiated by Torrington Main Street, a program of Go Goshen, and celebrates the character, heritage, landscape and spirit of Goshen County through scenes of ranching, wildlife and the southeastern Wyoming landscape.
Dean began applying the first coat of paint the weekend of Aug. 15-16. Community members joined the effort during a paint day Aug. 20, adding color and details to sections of the artwork under the artist’s direction.
The mural was funded through community contributions, business sponsorships and grants, including a Wyoming Arts Council grant supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Wyoming Legislature, along with a Go Goshen Progress Program Grant. Major donors include Jerry and Ann White, Vistabeam, the Goshen County Lodging Tax Board, the Eastern Wyoming College Foundation, Print Express, Wyoming Hemp Company and Broncho Bar & Grillhouse.
