LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie boys’ basketball team picked up three more wins last week, including a pair of 2A Southeast Quadrant wins over Burns and Niobrara County.

On Friday, LFL opened the weekend with a 58-42 win over the Niobrara County Tigers.

Four Doggers scored in double figures in the win. Freshman Brady Cook led the team with 18 points and nine rebounds, while junior Aidan Mattheus added 13 points and seven rebounds. Senior Brian McCoid had 12 points, while junior Nolan Spears hat 10 points and seven steals.

Lingle led 20-13 after one quarter, and over the next two quarters, the Doggers extended the lead to 46-29. The visiting Tigers got no closer than 16 points by the final horn.

The next day, LFL scored a 66-41 road victory over the Crawford (Nebraska) Rams.

The Doggers overcame a slow start, falling behind 14-9 in the opening quarter. However, the rest of the game belonged to Lingle.

By halftime, LFL held a 26-21 lead, and the Dogger lead only grew from there over the course of the final two quarters. Lingle outscored Crawford 17-13 in the third quarter and 23-7 in the fourth to pull away for the 25-point victory.

Cook led the team with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Mattheus added 17 points and nine boards. McCoid, Spears and freshman Anthony Arnusch tossed in seven apiece.

On Tuesday night, the Doggers returned to 2A Southeast Quad play with a 60-51 road win over the Burns Broncs.

The game was close throughout. Lingle led 15-9 after one quarter, and Burns cut the visitors lead to 25-22 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the teams combined for 39 points with 20 of those courtesy of the Doggers as LFL extended the lead to four heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth, LFL added 15 points as they pulled away for the nine-point win.

Mattheus led the team with 20 points and nine rebounds, while McCoid added 16 points and nine boards. Cook tossed in 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to go along with four blocks.

The Doggers (12-5) host Guernsey (5-6) at 4 p.m. Saturday.
