GOSHEN COUNTY – Southeast and Lingle-Fort Laramie football teams find themselves in the top five of the preseason WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media poll released on Monday.
In the Class 1A 9-Man division, the Southeast Cyclones come in at No. 4, while the LFL Doggers come in at No. 5.
Defending state champions, the Pine Bluff Hornets hold down the top spot, while Big Piney is No. 2. Wind River comes in at No. 3.
Southeast heads to Pine Bluffs for a jamboree on Friday, Aug. 25, while Lingle opens the season at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 1 against a sub-varsity team from Cheyenne Central.
In Class 2A, Torrington picked up six votes, including one third-place vote, one fourth-place vote and four fifth-place votes. It puts the Blazers seventh in the preseason poll.
Lyman comes in as the preseason favorites, while Big Horn, the defending 2A state champions, are No. 2. Mountain View, Lovell and Tongue River round out the top five.
Torrington hosts Gering, Nebraska on Friday, Aug. 25. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
