SIDNEY, NEBRASKA – Dan was born on November 18, 1963, in Torrington. He joined his parents Herman and Verna, two sisters and two brothers to complete the family. He left this earth peacefully to join our Lord in Heaven on February 15, 2025, at UCHealth in Aurora, Colorado with his sisters by his side.

He attended Lingle-Ft. Laramie schools graduating in 1982. He enjoyed shop and cooking classes and 4-H. He especially enjoyed the gardening club.

After graduation, Dan moved out of the house and got a job at Rose Brothers. While in Lingle, he also trained to be an EMT. Later he moved to Riverton to become an EMT trainer. His last career change brought him to Sidney, Nebraska to work at Prestolite. He was a past member of the Lingle and Riverton volunteer fire departments.

Dan was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis in 1974. After high school, he participated in many studies in Denver for CF hoping his efforts would advance the treatment for the disease. He was evaluated for a lung transplant in 2002 and 2021. In February 2022, he qualified for a transplant. He got the call on March 8th and had surgery the next day. He took his first deep breath on March 10th.

Dan met his soulmate Denise in a chat room. There was an instant connection. They met for the first time May 2014. After about a year of courtship, Denise moved to Sidney. Dan and Denise were very happy together until her passing in December 2023.

Dan was a man of many talents and a people person. He enjoyed tinkering around the house, cooking, gardening, photography and computers. He loved being around people especially family and friends. Having coffee with the neighbors was a favorite past time. It gave him great joy helping people. He always looked at the positive side of life.

He was preceded in death by his fiancée Denise, his parents Herman and Verna, brother Jim, maternal and paternal grandparents, many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his siblings Deb, Diane, Rob, sister-in-law Teresa; aunts Lydia, Barb, Marlene; nieces and nephew; and many cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held in Sidney on July 12. Memorial gifts can be made to a sister to help cover medical expenses or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation/Colorado. Bowin Funeral Home of Akron, Colorado was in charge of arrangements.
