TORRINGTON – Funeral services for Dale Roy Carlson, 80, will be held 1 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at the United Methodist Church with Julie Newman officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. 

Visitation will be at the funeral home prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the casket will be open prior to the service at the church. 

Dale passed away peacefully December 26, 2024, at Torrington Community Hospital. Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Church in Dale’s name. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com 

Dale was born September 15, 1944, in Graceville, Minnesota to Roy and Florence (Thompson) Carlson. He was raised in Ortonville, Minnesota and received his education graduating from high school in 1962. During high school he played on the football, basketball and baseball teams. After high school he went to Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota where he studied chemistry and math and played basketball and baseball graduating in 1966. He joined the United States Air Force in 1967 and went to Officers Training School and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in San Antonio, Texas. He then went to munitions school at Lowery AFB in Denver, Colorado. He was then assigned to Eglin AFB in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida where he spent the next three and a half years until being honorably discharged. 

After the military he went to pharmacy school at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, graduating in 1975. 

He was then hired by Vandel Drug in Torrington where he spent the next 41 years as a pharmacist until his retirement. While he was in Florida, he met his future wife Mary “Teresa” Taylor. They were married June 11, 1977. To this union two sons were born Ryan and Michael. 

Dale is survived by his two sons: Ryan and Michael. A granddaughter Maddilynn and grandson Kellan. 

He is preceded in death by his wife Teresa, his parents and a younger brother Darold.
