TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Board of Commissioners announced in its meeting Tuesday that Brandi Correa will be the next Clerk of District Court in Goshen County.
The commission chambers were filled with Correa’s family and friends to watch her recite the oath of office and officially take the reins of the clerk’s office.
“I just want to say thank you for your support and I hope to continue to do a good job,” Correa said to her supporters who gathered for a small reception after she was sworn into office by District Court Judge Patrick Korell.
Correa applied for the position with the Goshen County Republican Party, and then went through a public interview process during the commission meeting on Tuesday. Teresa Bloodgood also applied and interviewed for the position.
After the interview process, Goshen County Commission Chairman Wally Wolski told both candidates for the position the commission had to make a tough choice.
“Both of you did an exceptional job today,” Wolski said. “We only have one position to fill, and we had two very qualified individuals.”
Correa was previously the Deputy Clerk of District Court for five years, and spent 12 years as a legal secretary prior to joining the county. Correa has been running the office since Rickard’s resignation.
“It feels great that I have so many supporters that believe I can do a good job and continue to do a good job and serve Goshen County,” Correa said.
Correa will succeed Kathi Rickard, who resigned earlier this month for health reasons in the shadow of an investigation into the court’s records by the State of Wyoming.
