City council approves interim electric rate increase application

Posted 10/9/26

The Torrington City Council on Tuesday approved the city’s request for a temporary electric rate increase, after a public hearing in which Mayor Herb Doby spent most of the evening walking the audience through the reasons for it.

The council voted 3-0 to approve the city’s Application for Interim Power Cost Adjustment, which was filed Sept. 30 with the Wyoming Public Service Commission. Councilman Shane Viktorin was absent. The commission must also approve the application before the increase can take effect Nov. 1. Kelly Pearson, the attorney representing the city before the commission, said it could go before commissioners in late October.
