TORRINGTON – Ordinances raising the cost of lots within the municipal cemetery and raising the cost for interment and disinterment were both passed by the council on first reading Tuesday night. According to Torrington Mayor Mike Varney the last time prices were increased was 2012.
The proposed costs of a cemetery lot are
• Single (5’ x 7’) $400 for a resident and $800 for non-residents.
• Double (10’ x 10’) $750 for residents and $1,300 for non-residents.
• Infant (2’6” x 5’) $200 for a resident and $300 for nonresident.
• Cremation (3’ x 5’) $300 for residents and $600 for nonresidents.
The cost of interment is dependent on whether it is performed during the week or on a weekend and residency. The proposed costs are for residents
