Well, December is here. I can’t say “finally” because it feels like this year has just flown by. Anyone who knows me knows I am cold nearly 24/7 regardless of what season it is, unless it is 85 and sunny, I am cold. Wyoming isn’t really a place for someone who can’t keep warm. Nope, if the cold air temperatures don’t bite ya in the butt, the windchill values do!
I can’t say that I would do better in a warmer climate because, after all, most warm climates have some animal or insect that can and will probably eat you. Maybe I just need a heat rock.
One of my most favorite past times was sledding in the winter. We would pack the ol’ sled as far as we possibly could up the hill and climb on. Sometimes we’d have to give ourselves a little boost with our hands as we push off to rush down the hill. We would walk into the house, covered head to town in melted snow…. soppy boots, gloves and snow pants…we were just a freezing cold ball of melting snow. We would get up the next day and do it all again. Our socks never got wet thanks to leftover bread bags. Looking back, I am really not sure how such a cold bodied person could enjoy a taste of winter.
I can remember wearing shorts in the wintertime! Flip-flops for a mad dash to the trash or mailbox. Now, I am sitting here with a heated blanket and enough layers of clothing to make me appear as though I am a marshmallow.
For whatever reason, it doesn’t appear to be quite as cold when we have snow. Maybe it is more of a – all this cold for nothin’ – thought but I sure wish it would snow already.
Stay warm!
