YODER – Memorial services for Barbara Jean Munroe, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Garry Schick officiating. Barbara died June 13, 2024, at her home in Yoder and cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family to be decided at a later date. Barbara was born March 11, 1938, in Scottsbluff, the daughter of James and Viva (Douglass) Butcher. She grew up in Morrill attending grade school at Owl Creek School and later graduated Lyman High School as salutatorian. She attended Nebraska Western College for a year before working as a secretary in various jobs. Barbara married Dwight Munroe on June 30, 1957. They moved to the Yoder area in 1969 and she worked as a secretary and administrative assistant for SCS, Goshen Hole High School and judge Langdon. She retired when judge Langdon retired in 1990.
Barbara enjoyed dancing especially square, round and country, gardening flowers and playing the piano. She was a past member of the Yoder Women’s Club, the South Goshen Presbyterian Church and Job’s Daughters.
Barbara is survived her husband Dwight Munroe of Yoder; son Kevin (Carolyn) Munroe of Yoder; daughter Brenda Shaver of Cheyenne; sister Shirley McKee of Yankton, South Dakota; granddaughters Aryn Rasmussen, Kelsea Shaver-Engelhardt, and Makenna Shaver; a grandson Dwight Schaver; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Richard Butcher.
