Annual Rooster Booster fundraiser yields great attendance

TORRINGTON – This weekend was the 28th annual Rooster Booster. This year there were approximately 600 adults and 150 kids in attendance.

The Rooster Booster is an auction and banquet which gathers funds to donate to the community. In 2023-2024, the Rooster Booster donated $38,566.08 to the community, records indicate.

This money went to 44 separate groups, clubs, activities, or people. Local sports programs, the county fire departments, schools, and so much more. They were even able to give scholarships to Eastern Wyoming College.

The evening was not only an auction and banquet. There were also a couple activities they provided for the young people in the community.

“A couple guys took caricatures guys, drawing for kids, a balloon guy, a mini carnival in the back,” Jasen Kaufman, president of the Rooster Booster, said when asked about the activities.

The event even had live music.

The Rooster Booster auctioned off 40 items in the community. They auctioned things like guns, knives, calls, artwork, and so much more. The auctioned items were donated to the Rooster Booster.

Some of the proceeds will be going to the Duffy family and some will be going to the track team. The Rooster Booster typically donates to underfunded and important things in the community.

“We had some guns, one’s going the kid that got hurt, proceeds. The other one’s going to the high school track team. I think we had, how many guns did we have? Seventy-something,” Kaufman said.

“In between 70 and 85, probably,” his business partner added.

“Probably at least 30 for the kids. 40?” Kaufman continued.

“We had 42 for the kids,” his business partner corrected.

Overall, they had a huge attendance, a lot of activities, and so much to auction. Besides it being a lot of work, the Rooster Booster was fun for all.
