TORRINGTON – All three Tiger baseball teams were in action this week.

The ‘A’ and ‘C’ teams traveled to Cheyenne, while the ‘B’ team hosted Laramie.

On Tuesday, the ‘C’ team suffered a pair of run-ruled loss to Cheyenne 19-5 and 17-0.

Torrington managed only four hits in the 14-run loss. Rhett Clark, James Stienmetz, Harrison Rodriguez and Skyler Patrick had one hit apiece.

The Tigers got a run across in the first and two each in the second and third innings.

Clark had two RBIs.

In game two, Cheyenne did most of the damage in the first inning with 12 runs.

For the second straight game, the Tigers had only four hits – two from Colby Sandusky and one each from Will Rodgers and Patrick.

The youngest Tiger team is now 6-12 on the season and travels to Laramie on Monday, July 3. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Tiger 'B' team drops a pair to Laramie

The Tiger 'B' team returned home to face the Laramie Rangers on Wednesday night.

The Tigers suffered two losses, falling 11-4 in game one and 14-1 in game two.

In game one, after Laramie scored a pair in the top of the first, Torrington battled back to take a 3-2 lead in the second. Caleb Kelly, Mateo Correa and Spencer Booth had RBIs to put the Tigers in front.

However, the lead was short-lived as Laramie regained the lead in the top of the third with five runs.

The Rangers added to its lead with a run in the fifth. Down 8-3, the Tigers looked to make another comeback. With the bases loaded Correa walked, bringing in the fourth run of the game for Torrington. Unfortunately, the Tigers left the bases loaded in the sixth.

Laramie capped off the game with three more runs in the seventh.

Ryan Moorehouse, Kelly and Booth tallied the only hits of the game for the Tigers. Moorehouse took the loss, striking out five over four innings of work.

In game two, the Rangers run-ruled the Tigers in five innings.

Laramie did most of the damage in the fifth inning with seven runs. They also added two in the first and second innings, while adding three in the third.

Torrington's lone run in the 14-1 loss came in the bottom of the first.

Drew Kramer singled and later came around to score for the Tigers' only run.

Kramer and Wyler Fisher had one hit apiece as Torrington managed only two hits in the loss.

The Tigers head to Laramie for a weekend tournament this weekend. They opened play on Thursday against Loveland, Colorado before playing Laramie at 5:30 p.m. On Friday. They also play Rock Springs at 10 a.m. Saturday and Fort Morgan, Colorado at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Tiger 'A' team splits with Hawks

The senior Tiger team traveled to Cheyenne on Wednesday to face the AA Cheyenne Hawks.

In game one, the Hawks battled back from a 5-3 deficit in the bottom of the seventh for a 6-5 walk-off victory.

Cheyenne grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first, but in the fourth, an error set the tone for a three-run frame. After Ayden Desmond got aboard courtesy of the error, Ben Firminhac tripled, tying the game. Firminhac later stole home to give the Tigers the lead, and Nolan Long drove in Ryder Hackbarth to make it a 3-1 advantage for the Tigers.

The Hawks tied the game in the home half of the fourth and the scored remained tied at three until the seventh.

Austin Short led off the inning with a single and Firminhac walked with one out. Hibben broke the tie with an RBI single, and later in the inning with the bases loaded, Long walked, pushing the Tiger lead to 5-3.

In the bottom of the seventh, two Tiger errors aided the four-run inning for the Hawks as they walked it off with two outs on the scoreboard.

Firminhac went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Tigers, while Short and Hibben and Long had one hit each.

In game two, Torrington jumped out to a 3-0 lead en route to a 7-1 victory.

Desmond and Firminhac had back-to-back singles, but it was Hibben's groundout which drove in the game's first run. A Hawk wild pitch made it 2-0 after one.

In the second, Grady Shields added to the Tiger lead with an RBI single to center field.

Cheyenne got its first run across in the third inning, but in the top of the sixth, the Tigers loaded the bases with no one out, but couldn't get add to their 3-1 lead.

In the seventh, Torrington once again loaded the bases, and this time, the Tigers were able to take advantage. An error extended the Tiger lead to 4-1, and Hibben's single drove in two more runs. Long added a single, pushing the Torrington lead to six.

The senior Tiger team heads to Green River for a weekend tournament.
