GOSHEN COUNTY – Paperwork filed in the District Court of the Eighth Judicial District of the State of Wyoming indicates a Torrington man, Jacob Eugene Lechleidner, entered a voluntary plea of guilty to count one: sexual exploitations of children on January 16. The 48-year-old was ordered to appear on April 21 at 9 a.m. to be sentenced in the district courtroom, however before Lechleidner would appear, two additional charges would be filed against the man.
Court records obtained Tuesday, March 18 indicate Lechleidner faces one count of possession of child pornography and one count voyeurism: image captured or recorded.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on October 16, 2024, the Goshen County Sheriff’s Department had received an anonymous report stating Lechleidner was in possession of a tablet which contained child pornography. A roommate of Lechleidner had “guessed” the personal identification number for the tablet which allowed her access. Records further explain over 30 pictures of juvenile children, mostly ages 5-7 with their “bottoms” removed. The roommate confronted Lechleidner and a verbal argument ensued. Lechleidner contacted the Goshen County Sheriff’s Office and deputies responded.
“After deputies with the Goshen County Sheriff’s Office left the vicinity, the tablet with the photographs was unintentionally ‘ran over’ by Lechleidner, causing the screen to break,” the probable cause affidavit explained.
The roommate indicated to the sheriff’s department she had given the tablet to a friend to conceal from Lechleidner. Records explain a search warrant was obtained and the tablet was located. Deputy Herb Irons retrieved the item and contacted the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) – Computer Crime Team to request assistance to download potential information from the tablet.
DCI Special agents conducted a forensic analysis of the tablet’s operating system where over 7,000 files depicting child pornography were discovered. On December 19, 2024, Lechleidner was arrested and agents seized a cell phone in Lechleidner’s possession. During the forensic analysis of Lechleidner’s cell phone, agents discovered approximately 700 images of child pornography, nine of which were of infant children.
“Lechleidner further admitted to possessing child pornography on his smartphone,” the affidavit said.
During the review of the images, agents observed a series of images taken by Lechleidner on August 18, 2023. Two of the images were taken underneath the dress of a juvenile, agents discovered.
“There are five images where the focal point of each image appears to be surreptitiously focused underneath the long, black colored shirt, between the legs and toward the pubic region of the juvenile female,” the probable cause affidavit read.
According to court records, the photographs Lechleidner had were linked back to a Facebook profile of a former friend and her ex-husband. The Facebook friend identified the clothing seen on the juvenile in the photos as her daughter.
“Based upon the above information, affiant believes there is probable cause to believe Jacob Eugene Lechleidner did possess an additional 700 images of child pornography in which Lechleidner created and saved on his Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone in violation of Wyoming State Statue 6-4-303. [Lechleidner] did surreptitiously take pictures under the clothing of two juvenile females on August 18, 2023, in violation of Wyoming State Statue 6-4-304,” the probable cause affidavit explained.
Lechleidner waived his March 20 preliminary hearing.
