When the Torrington Tigers needed a new scoreboard at Dean Bullock Field, the money came from several places, including a sales tax that Goshen County shoppers pay on everyday purchases. That tax funds Go Goshen’s Progress Program, which has quietly put money into projects in every corner of the county for nearly two decades.

At Three Little Diamonds Christian Athletic Center, kids cartwheel across the mat and cheerleaders rise high overhead as athletes ages 5 to 17 learn gymnastics, tumbling and cheer. No experience is required. Ashley La Rue opened the gym two years ago, and her older sister, Sondra Ellis, came aboard this year to expand the program. La Rue, a gymnast growing up, had been driving to Scottsbluff to coach. She decided the money was better spent on mats of her own. The center operates out of the gym at Bethel Baptist Church, 2980 E. D St.

The Goshen County Sportsman Club opened its gates Saturday for its annual open house and youth shoot, a free morning of trap shooting, air guns and a catered lunch built around the memory of club founding member Dave Eaton.

The Torrington Rotary Club's new Football Tailgate Party fundraiser sold 178 tickets for Saturday's watch party at Cottonwood Country Club, where the event was open to the public and drew fans to see the University of Wyoming Cowboys take on Central Michigan while raising money for the club's community walking path project and other Rotary causes, including local scholarships; respite care and home-health services for seniors with Alzheimer's disease and dementia; and literacy initiatives.

Trail Elementary families gathered Tuesday evening for a Title I Family Night themed “Get in the Game: Data,” combining a presentation on student data with an evening of outdoor yard games. Title I is a federal program that provides additional funding to schools with a high number of students from low-income families, supporting resources such as reading and math intervention specialists and family engagement events like this one. The event, held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., included a presentation for families on how to interpret AimsWeb data reports sent home about their students, as well as an overview of the school's intervention structure. Afterward, families headed outside for yard games including cornhole, giant Jenga, Connect 4, ladder golf and other outdoor activities, with several game sets given away in a drawing at the end of the night.

TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Library recorded its largest summer reading program to date, with 451 patrons participating and more than 365,000 minutes read, the Goshen County Commissioners learned during their Tuesday meeting.

TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Commissioners proclaimed October 2026 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month during their Tuesday meeting, recognizing survivors and the organizations that assist them.

The Torrington City Council moved through a full agenda Tuesday, approving a grant application for a sewer improvement project, awarding a contract for irrigation upgrades at Pioneer Park, and proclaiming Constitution Week, among other business.
