CASPER – MIWW was started in 1944 and in its peak years had more than 10,000 contestants. While contestant numbers have dwindled to around 600, Wyoming continues to boast the largest number of entries.
With 15 entries making it to the state competition, 6 of those were in the adult division. The winner, who got to send her entry to the National Competition in San Antonio, Texas, was Estella Munroe from Encampment. Runner-up was Jamie Wilkinson of Torrington. Taking 3rd place honors was Patty Swanson of Laramie and Lingle. 4th place went to Jeri Currier of Chugwater.
State Director, Lynda Johnson, led an active weekend full of competition, fun and educational activities. All contestants received prizes of wool yardage, sewing supplies and various other items. A sewing machine was also drawn for and won by Estella Munroe. The donors are most appreciated for their contributions. We’re anxiously awaiting next years event. Anyone who is interested please contact the state director, Lynda Johnson or the District Director, Jodee Garrelts, Torrington.
