Wilson, Fuller win events at Pine Bluffs meet

PINE BLUFFS - Lingle-Fort Laramie distance runners Myles Wilson and Kyland Fuller scored the Doggers’ only wins of the day at the rain-shortened Pine Bluffs Invite last Saturday.

Wilson, a freshman, won the 3,200-meter run in 11 minutes, 4.31 seconds, beating out teammate Remington Bremer, who finished seventh in 13:13.38, while Fuller won the 800-meter run in 2:07.34.

Cooper Hill finished the day with a trio of top five finishes, including second in the long jump at 19 feet, 5 1/2 inches and third in the 100-meter dash in 11.92 seconds. He also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 24.42 seconds.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Dustin Swartwood, Noah Hatch, Wyatt Sylvester and Kyle Gutierrez and the sprint medley relay team of Cooper Fauber, Swartwood, Hatch and Aidan Mattheus both finished fifth in their respective events.

Mattheus also scored points for the Doggers in the 110-meter hurdle event with a seventh-place finish in 22.29 seconds.

In the girls’ division, sophomore Emma Walker paced the team with a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.08 seconds.

The Lady Doggers also had a trio of third-place finishes, including freshman Natalie Speckner in the 3,200-meter run in 13:00.77, finishing two spots ahead of freshman Holly Leiseth in 13:59.28.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Leiseth, Maddie Heilbrun, Morgan Cornelius and Hailey Smith finished third in the 12:30.09.

The sprint medley relay team of M’Lynn Hill, Ashlee Hattan, Heilbrun and Smith placed fifth in 5:30.09.

In field events, freshman Izzy Spears placed third in the discus with a toss of 92 feet.

Heilbrun was the only other medalist for the Lady Doggers in field events with a fourth-place finish in the high jump at 4-6.

No team standings were released from this meet.

The Lingle-Fort Laramie teams travel to the Zowada Invite in Lusk on Saturday, May 1. Action is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.
