What kind of tool am I?

My dad was a carpenter and an artist and a very skilled craftsman and he had a wonderful tool box. He had everything he needed to create beautiful things out of wood, and he knew exactly what tool he needed for each job he had to do. I would look in there and couldn’t figure out how to use any of them, but he knew. And he knew exactly what tool to use on the different woods to create the result he desired. It was a gift, and I didn’t have it, but I learned a little at a time as I watched him and studied what he was doing. He showed me how each piece fit together perfectly to perform the function it was being created for, and he showed me how to shape it.

My heavenly Father created me in my mother’s womb to perform a useful purpose for His kingdom. He knew exactly the temperament I’d need, the personality He wanted me to have, and the type of mind that was willing to learn about Him. He gave me plenty of opportunities throughout the years to know Him, but I didn’t always want to follow Him and give my life to Him. But when I did, then He began to teach me, shape me, and give me a great desire to use whatever gifts and skills He equipped me with for Him.

I was created by a Master Craftsman for a purpose. I am fully equipped to open my mind for the next step. My preparation involves daily Bible study, prayer, and being on the alert for the needs around me that I am equipped to meet.

Each of us has the tools we need to come alongside Christ and let the Master show us what to do and how to do it. We are in charge of building the kingdom here on earth; building each other up, encouraging one another, teaching people how to know Christ, and helping them learn how to study the Bible. We are each an important tool in God’s Tool Chest and are meant to be used by the Master Craftsman for His purposes right where we are. He has prepared each of us for a specific use and has given us the gift we need to use to reach others. He has also given us the Holy Spirit to live within us and to guide and direct us in all we do.

1 Corinthians 12:4-7 “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. And there are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” Verse 11“But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.”

We each have a special gift to use and we are all in the perfect place to use it, and the Holy Spirit will guide and direct us and teach us what to say and do. He will “equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” (Hebrews 13:21)

We just need to put on our shield of faith and get to work!
