TORRINGTON – Funeral services for Viola M. Holcomb, 85, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell City Cemetery in Mitchell, Neb. 

Viola died Dec. 19, 2018 at Goshen Healthcare Community. The casket will be open briefly following the service. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences can be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com. 

Viola was born July 13, 1933, in Albany, Mo., the daughter of James and Alice (Tony) Robertson. She grew up and received her education in Missouri. She married Melvin Moad March 3, 1947, in Troy, Kan., and they were later divorced. She later married LeRoy Holcomb on Oct. 8, 1953, in Mitchell. They moved to Torrington in 1960. She raised her family here. She worked at the Holly Sugar plant and at various other jobs. 

LeRoy died May 5, 1999. She continued to live in Torrington and she entered the Goshen Healthcare Community in May 2017.

Viola is survived by two sons Rodger (Judy) Elliot of Silver City, Iowa, and David Holcomb of Morrill, Neb.; three daughters Diana Cuthbert, Emma Purviance and Deborah (Terry) Raben all of Torrington; 27 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband LeRoy; a son Delbert Holcomb; two daughters JoAnn Hale and Marilyn Albertson; two grandchildren Kyle Holcomb and Brandy Miller; a son-in-law Les Cuthbert; a daughter-in-law Darla Holcomb; one great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence, James and Melvin Robertson; two sisters, Margaret Shirley and Goldie Long; and two half-sisters, Delores Carlson and Edith Smith.
