Up and running with new name

Marly’s Signs & Designs print shop opens doors

Posted

TORRINGTON – The name will be changed to Marly’s Signs & Designs.

It was the only stipulation with the family. The name must be changed from High Plains Print and Graphics.

After the death of Bob Nesbitt, Marlene Granger decided to carry on the dream they both had. Buying the High Plains Print and Graphics Shop, Granger reopened the print shop May 14 and has been in operation for more than a month.

“It was a great name it was the only thing in our sales agreement, that I change the name,” Granger said. The only place where the name is left is where Bob and Granger put it is on the eves of the building. “I keep thinking how am I going to get rid of that? It stills says High Plains Print & Graphics, I keep thinking if I paint it?” she said.

With the printers sitting for six months there has been a lot of work to get them up and running again. Sitting for so long without being used the heads can get a gummy surface and need to be cleaned. “They need to be worked and new IP address need to be set up,” Granger said.

Former customers are stopping in to see about some of the products they use to have printed, business cards, banners and decals for their cars or windows.

“That’s the good thing, that is why I was down the street talking to Jerry Numon. He was a very good customer, I was letting him know that all his graphics are on my computer. All of Bob’s customers graphics are still on my computer,” said Granger. “I bought the shop with that agreement. Bob did have a lot of clients.”

Granger found herself answering questions from customers about their graphics for the past six months while waiting for the family to decide about the business. She sees a bright future for the business. Granger had worked for Bob in South Torrington and was working for him in the current spot for two years where the business had begun to grow. In the future, Granger will be looking for people who are familiar with printing or can be trained.

“Open this business up again and hopefully get it to grow,” Granger said. “I need to get a web site up again, then eventually get a good crew in here to make this even bigger.”

Granger has the doors open for new and old business, she is right now looking at options for Marly’s Signs & Designs. Granger said, “I want to keep going on with Bob’s and my vision, making it happen, get bigger and bigger.”
