TORRINGTON – Torrington Police Department and Torrington Emergency Medical Services responded to an injury accident at the intersection of West C Street and Valley Road just before noon on Monday. A pickup had collided with an oversized load belonging to RJ Corman Railroad Group’s Derailment Services.
According to Sgt. Joel Sandlian of the Torrington Police Department, a semi with a flatbed transport trailer hauling a Cat dozer was westbound on Valley Road and was driving through the intersection of West C Street and Valley Road when a Dodge pickup collided with it.
Preliminary investigation into the matter suggests the pickup may have failed to stop at the stop light at the intersection. According to Sandlian, the matter remains under investigation.
The driver of the Dodge pickup reported minor injuries, but the Dodge pickup will likely be a total loss. The semi and dozer received minimal damage from the collision. The pickup was towed due to damages sustained in the collision.
