TORRINGTON – The Cheyenne Hawks rolled back into Torrington on Monday evening and steamrolled their way to a 17-1 victory over the Tigers at Dean Bullock Field.
The Hawks limited Torrington to four hits on the day, while Cheyenne pounded out 19.
The visitors jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening frame and had extended it to 12-0 by the fifth inning.
In the home half of the inning, the Tigers plated its only run of the game.
Caden Riley recorded a two-out single, and Sam Firminhac doubled, scoring Riley.
Torrington managed only three more bases runners the remainder of the game. Jared Myrtle reached on an error, while Daniel Wayland reached on a dropped third strike in the sixth inning. Sebastian Doucette walked in the seventh.
In addition to the hits in the fifth, Doucette and Jackson Jones tallied the only other two hits of the day.
Jones was also tagged with the loss, working 2 1/3 innings, striking out one while surrounding five earned runs.
The Tigers are back in action Saturday for a single nine-inning contest in Wheatland. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
