Torrington golf competes in Casper, Douglas

DOUGLAS – The Torrington High School golf team had a busy weekend with one-day tournaments in Casper and Douglas on Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday at the Casper Invite at the Casper Municipal Golf Course, Torrington was one of only two 3A schools at the tournament, joining Sheridan, Kelly Walsh, Campbell County, Thunder Basin, Natrona County and Douglas.

The Torrington boys finished sixth, while the girls placed fifth.

Preston Telford led the way for the Blazers with a round of 97, while Alex Waring shot a 99. Boden Barnes fired a 111, while Mason Wilkes had a round of 116.

As a team, the Blazers scored 423. Sheridan won the team title with 305 points, while Kelly Walsh was second with 313.

In the girls’ division, Madyson Banister led the Lady Blazers with a round of 113. Kaylee Pittman had a 114, while Kayleigh Waymire shot a 124. Sarah Birdsall shot a 125 and Zoe Hoff had a 139.

The Lady Blazers finished fifth with 351. Sheridan won the team title with 238, while Kelly Walsh was second with 246.

The next day Torrington traveled to Douglas for another round of golf.

Waring placed fifth with a round of 87 to lead THS, while Telford placed seventh with a 92. Taylor Swartwood shot a 111, while Andrew Hafner shot a 124. Drew Boche had a 125, while Marcus Jones and Keegan Black fired a 127. Sabastain Bremway shot a 138.

In the girls’ division, Banister shot a 116 to finish eighth, while Birdsall placed ninth with a 118. Ty Fogle shot a 126, while Pittman had a 127. Waymire shot a 134, and Hoff a 142.

Torrington wraps up the spring golf season on Friday in Wheatland. Action gets underway at 10 a.m.
