TORRINGTON – The Torrington High School volleyball team fell to Gering, Neb. Tuesday in straight sets (25-21, 25-20, 25-18).
The loss drops the Lady Blazers to 2-5 on the young season.
“The girls did some really good things tonight, we were right with them every set,” THS coach Chelsi Jackson said.
The downfall for the Lady Blazers came in early deficits in each set.
“Our downfall was digging ourselves a hole too early by making too many of our own errors then having to dig back out,” Jackson said.
She attributes that to the young squad but feels things will work out as they get more varsity experience.
“This is almost a completely new varsity team, however, so I think once we critique a few of those things we will be fine,” Jackson said.
Senior Brielle Bivens led the team with 10 kills, while senior Nakayln Garner added six. Senior Katelynn Wright tallied a team-high two serving aces.
Defensively, Bivens also recorded 11 digs, while sophomore Kameron Stitt added eight.
The Lady Blazers will have a little time off before returning to the court in Rawlins for a weekend tournament Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7-8.
