Thunder softball takes part in Scottsbluff tourney

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – The 10U, 12U and 14U Torrington Thunder softball teams were in action over the weekend at the Broadway Bombers Summer Slam Tournament over the weekend.

The 10U squad took second after falling to the Broadway Bombers in the championship game. No score was given.

In the 12U division, the Thunder went 1-3 at the tournament. Their lone win came against the Cheyenne Extreme, 12-3. They suffered losses to Impact Gold 10-1, the North Platte Express 11-8 and the Wyoming Mystix 10-2.

The 12U squad also picked up a win over Scottsbluff 7-5 in game one of a doubleheader on June 21. In game two, the contest ended in a 12-12 tie.

The 14U team went 2-2 with wins over the Wheatland Lady Lobos 18-8 and the Gordon Mustangs 14-2. They fell to Scottsbluff 5-3 and to the Chadron Slammers 5-3.

The Thunder 14U team also swept the Alliance Aftershock 20-13 and 9-2 on June 21, and the team also picked up two wins on June 23 with a 16-5 win over Wheatland and 9-2 over Scottsbluff.

The Thunder 14U is now 12-10 on the season.
