TORRINGTON  The Torrington High School volleyball team wrapped up the 2019 regular season with a pair of losses to Scottsbluff, Neb. and Rawlins on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

On Thursday, the Lady Blazers traveled to Scottsbluff, falling 20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-20.

The Lady Blazers took the first set but dropped the next three on Senior Night for the Lady Bearcats.

“Scottsbluff was kind of our deal,” THS coach Chelsi Jackson said. “We couldn’t pull it together.”

Senior Onalise Albaugh led the Lady Blazers with 11 kills, while junior Michaela Moorehouse added 10.

The next day, the Lady Blazers were swept by the Rawlins Lady Outlaws.

“Against Rawlins, it’s hard to compete against a team that has four 6-foot, 1-inch girls on the other side,” Jackson said.

Rawlins made quick work of Torrington in a 25-11, 25-16, 25-23 win.

Now with the regular season behind the Lady Blazers, Torrington opens the 3A East Regional Tournament with Thermopolis.

“We’ve not seen Thermop yet. It’s going to be a very clean slate for both teams,” Jackson said. “From what I’ve seen on game film, we should be able to beat them, but we’ll have to work for it.”

If the Lady Blazers can finish in the top four at Regionals, they will earn another trip to the Class 3A State Tournament in Casper.

“If we can keep our heads, they’ll do fine,” Jackson said. “They are going to have to stay consistent. That will be the biggest thing.”
