THS sixth, seventh at league cross country meet

DOUGLAS – The Torrington High School cross country runners traveled to Douglas for the annual Absaraka Conference Meet on Friday.

The Lady Blazers came home sixth, while the boys’ team was seventh.

Aydan Loya paced all Torrington runners with a fourth-place finish in 17 minutes, 50.6 seconds, while teammate Michael Sandusky finished seventh in 18:02.21.

Meanwhile, Alexander Ramirez finished 44th in 20:49.49, while Angel Alsides was 45th in 21:32.49. Weston Cronk came home 46th in 21:50.17, while Timothy Randolph was 49th in 22:15.39. Gabriel Perez rounded out the Blazer runners in 50th in 23:00.95.

As a team, the Blazers scored 140 points. Worland claimed the team title with 37 points, while Newcastle was second with 80.

In the girls’ division, Sera Glass led the Lady Blazers with a 12th-place finish in 21:10.09 seconds. Tyne Stokes crossed the finish line 31st in 23:43.26, while Amberly Froerer was 37th in 24:38.53. Jenna Kaufman finished 38th in 24:39.39, while Bridgette Lowther placed 43rd in 26:29.41. Jazymn West came home 45th in 27:21.69.

As a team, the Lady Blazers finished sixth with 155 points. Buffalo won the team title with 46 points. Rawlins was second with 48.

The cross country teams travel to Afton for the Class 3A State Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26. The 3A boys race fires off at noon, while the girls’ race begins at 1:30 p.m.
