During Friday’s pool play, Torrington went 2-0-1.

RAWLINS – The Torrington Lady Blazer volleyball team went 2-2-1 at the Rawlins Invite which featured most of the Class 3A teams in the state.
During Friday’s pool play, Torrington went 2-0-1.
The Lady Blazers picked up a 2-0 win over Newcastle, 21-12, 21-14 and Big Piney 21-8, 21-10.
In the third pool play match, Torrington split sets with Powell, 21-10, 11-21.
Powell also split 1-1 with Big Piney, handing the Lady Blazers the top seed out of their pool for Saturday’s bracket portion of the tournament.
On Saturday, the Lady Blazers went 0-2 in the Gold Bracket.
They opened the first round with a 2-0 (22-20, 21-10) match against Mountain View, who went on to fall 2-1 to Rawlins in the championship match.
On the consolation side of the bracket, Torrington saw its weekend come to a close with a 2-1 (16-21, 21-9, 15-7) loss to Worland. The Warriors went on to finish fifth.
“We played great Saturday and ended up No. 1 seed going into the gold bracket,” THS coach Chelsi Jackson said. “We lost to a team Saturday we definitely should have beat.”
For the tournament, junior Michaela Moorehouse led the team with 60 kills, while senior Dani Masterson added 52. Sophomore Reece Halley had 44. Junior Morgan Bates dished out 63 assists and recorded a team-high 22 digs.
“Dani, Michaela and Morgan were my game changers this weekend,” Jackson said.
Bates and senior Onalise Albaugh served up five aces each.
Torrington will open the home schedule this week, hosting Wheatland on Thursday, Sept 19. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
