CHEYENNE – The Torrington High School golf team opened the spring golf season on Friday at the Cheyenne Invite.
The tournament featured more than 120 golfers. Gage Gibson led the Blazers with a fifth-place finish and a round of 75. Alex Waring shot a 101, while Mason Wilkes fired a round of 108. Taylor Swartwood finished the day with a 116, while Preston Telford had a 122. Boden Barnes shot a 123.
As a team, the Blazers shot 400 to finish 11th out of 15 teams. Kelly Walsh won the team title with 318, while Scottsbluff, Nebraska was second with 325.
In the girls’ division, Sydney Eaton was the top placer for the Lady Blazers with a round of 104 to place 17th. Kayliegh Waymire finished with a 111, while Lauren Orr shot a 119. Kaylee Pittman had a 120, and Ty Fogle shot a 124.
As a team, the Lady Blazers finished fifth with a total of 334. Kelly Walsh won the team title with 257.
“A great start to the season for Gage,” THS coach Jeff Halley said. “We have a lot of young kids getting some good experience to build on.”
The Blazers are back in action Thursday at Douglas.
