THS cross country sweeps Kimball

KIMBALL, Neb. – The Torrington Blazer cross country teams swept the team titles at the Kimball Invite on Friday.

In the boys’ division, the Blazers swept the top two spots and had five of the team’s six runners place in the top 10.

Senior Aydan Loya picked up this third of the season and third in a row in 17 minutes, 28.60 seconds. Freshman Sully Wilson was second in 17:55.50.

Junior Zabdiel Munoz was seventh in 19:12.84, while junior Myles Wilson was seventh in 19:18.21. Freshman Cole Keller was ninth in 19:34.69, and freshman Brody Harrison finished 54th.

As a team, the Blazers scored 18 points. Pine Bluffs was second with 54, while Bayard, Nebraska was third with 71.

In the girls’ division, freshman Kaycee Kasmicki paced the Lady Blazers with a fifth-place finish in 22:00.62. Senior Amberly Froerer finished 10th in 22:36.30, while sophomore Tiffany Krueger placed 11th in 22:46.30. Junior Ada Merrigan was 11th in 23:27.65. Sophomore Callie Taylor finished 21st in 24:56.90, while freshman Elli Froerer was 23rd in 25:22.50.

As a team, the Lady Blazers scored 45 points, while Bridgeport, Nebraska was second with 58. Hemingford, Nebraska was third with 59.

The Torrington runners are back in action on Friday, Sept. 16 in Alliance, Nebraska.
