THS boys fall in regular season finale

RAWLINS – The Torrington High School boys’ basketball team fell 60-43 to Rawlins on the road in the season finale on Friday evening.

The Outlaws grabbed an early 13-9 lead after one quarter of play, but Rawlins stretched its lead to 37-20 by halftime.

Rawlins hit seven 3-pointers in the first half.

“We struggled with their pressure and getting out to shooters,” THS coach Neil Baker said.

In the second half, the Outlaws and the Blazers played to a 23-23 draw.

Senior Sam Firminhac led Torrington with 13 points, while senior Jackson Jones added 10. Sophomore Kieser Wolfe tossed in seven.

The No. 3-seeded Blazers will open the 3A East Regional Tournament in Newcastle against the Douglas Bearcats at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March. 5.
