MCCOOK, Neb. – The Lancer golf team had three golfers finish in the top 10 at the McCook Community College Tournament in McCook.

Eastern Wyoming College freshman George Cordall, Nottinghamshire, UK, finished in a tie with freshman teammate Leander Suttka, Berlin, Germany for seventh place with a 9-over-par. Lancer freshman Ryker Dunkley, American Fork, Utah, finished in ninth place with a 13-over-par.

McCook Community College’s Ethan Gough won the tournament shooting an 8-under-par. MCC swept the top five places and won the team title with a 1-over-par. EWC finished second, followed by Northeastern Junior College, Otero College and Lamar Community College.

“McCook has played well all year and they played extremely well at their home tournament. Kudos to them,” EWC golf coach Zach Smith said.

EWC’s Oscar Behle finished in a tie with MCC’s Payton Craw. Other Lancers competing included Noah Taylor, Tyler Fraser and Andrew Stannard.

“We battled our way through a tough course and some windy conditions to do the best that we could.” Smith said. “We’ll learn from this experience, and we are looking forward to playing in Sterling, Colorado next week.”

The Northeastern Junior College tournament is scheduled for April 13-14.
