Stoddard, Brummell win at first indoor track meet of the season

CASPER – Torrington senior duo of Jordan Stoddard and Allison Brummell picked up wins at the Natrona Invite, the first indoor track and field meet of the season.

Stoddard won two events, winning high jump and long jump, while Brummell won triple jump.

Stoddard won high jump at a height of 5 feet, 6 inches, and Brummell was third in the event at 5-2. Stoddard won long jump with a leap of 18-7.25, beating out teammate Alyssa Wondercheck who finished fifth at 15-11.

Stoddard also finished fourth in the 55-meter dash in 7.67 seconds.

Meanwhile, Brummell topped the triple jump event with a jump of 35 feet.

The Lady Blazers also had a runner-up finish with senior Tyne Stokes. She finished second in the 400-meter dash in 1 minute, 4.32 seconds.

The Torrington sprint medley relay team of Tylar Stoddard, Emma Walker, Stokes and Ada Merrigan finished fourth in 4:46.14.

The Lady Blazers finished the day fourth in the team standings with 58 points. Campbell County won the team title with 97.5 points. Cheyenne Central was second with 84, while Natrona County was third with 78.

In the boys’ division, senior Ryan Clapper paced the team with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 23.71 seconds.

Clapper was one of three Blazers to score team points.

Senior Kyland Fuller finished third in the 800-meter run in 2:05.68, while sophomore Tyler Bennick was eighth in shot put with a toss of 42-10.

The Blazers finished 12th in the final team standings with 15 points. Sheridan won the team title with 90 points, while Campbell County was second with 82.5. Cheyenne Central was third with 56.

The indoor track season continues Saturday in Cheyenne for a meet hosted by Cheyenne Central.
