TORRINGTON – Eastern Wyoming College agriculture instructor Kaitlyn Steben, was awarded the Honorary State Future Farmers of America Degree last month.
“Wyoming FFA relies on the support of exceptional teachers, individuals and companies to provide life changing experiences for its members,” said State FFA Advisor Stacy Broda. “Each year, at the Wyoming FFA Convention, those who have made outstanding contributions to FFA are honored with Distinguished Service Citations, VIP awards or the Honorary State FFA Degree.”
Setben, an Agriculture and Computer Application instructor helps host the annual state FFA veterinary science career development event each year in Torrington. She helps organize classes, judge practicums and score the contest.
In addition, she assists with the fall FFA Range Challenge sponsored by EWC for Wyoming Chapters to practice range judging and serves as the clerk for the Lancer Livestock Sale and Show Series where FFA and 4-H students purchase lambs, goats or hog prospects.
Steben also owns and operates Shoo Fly Soap Company in Torrington, making lotions, soaps and other products using milk from her family’s goats. Shoo Fly Soap Company is this year’s featured company in the agriculture sales career development event. She and her husband, Ty, run a farm in Goshen County.
She was selected for this award by FFA advisors from around the state.
