TORRINGTON – Torrington and Southeast both competed at the Okie Blanchard Invitational last week, with Lingle-Fort Laramie taking part in two invites, resulting in six additional prequalifying events for local athletes.

Torrington

Bryan Lemmon already prequalified for the state meet in two events, but he bettered his marks in both at the Okie Blanchard Invite. He cleared 6 feet, 5 inches in the high jump, while posting a time of 15.55 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. Both of those marks were better than his already qualifying efforts.

Southeast

For the Cyclone boys, the foursome of Chase Lovercheck, Kaden Malm, Brant Fullmer and Brady Fullmer had a solid 1600-meter relay at the Okie Blanchard Invitational. The squad had already prequalified in the event, but lowered their prequalifying time to 3:35.09, which is the fastest prequalified time in 2A.

Morgan Ekwall punched her ticket to Casper with a throw of 34 feet, 10 inches in the shot put in Cheyenne.

Lingle-Fort Laramie

Dogger senior Landen Fuller had a stellar day at the Burns Invitational last Thursday. He prequalified for the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.45 seconds, which is the fastest prequalified time. He also dropped his 200 time, an event he already prequalified in, to 22.89 seconds, the fasted mark in 1A.

L-FL had two boys relays surpass the prequalifying standard in the 1600-meter relay. Fuller, Cole Shepardson, Gaven Niles and Rhett Greenwald ran a time of 3:45.81 at the Burns Invite and Shepardson, Niles, Greenwald and Kelly Peterson completed the event in 3:50.76 at the Wheatland Invitational, both of which were better than the prequalifying standard.

Two Lady Doggers prequalified in the high jump last week at the Wheatland Invite. Shelby Heilbrun cleared 4 feet, 9 inches and Jordyn Gaspers had a 4-foot, 7-inch effort, both of which eclipsed the mark needed to prequalify in the event.
