YODER – The Southeast High School basketball teams wrapped up the regular season with a sweep of Class 2A Glenrock on Saturday evening in Yoder.
In the boys’ game, the Cyclones improved to 10-11 on the season with a 60-58 win over the Herders.
The win locks up the No. 1 seed for Southeast in the 1A East Regional Tournament which the Cyclones will be hosting at Torrington High School this weekend.
Freshman Ayden Desmond led the team with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore Mason Sorenson and junior Austin Short added 12 points each. Junior Kyler Clark and senior Kirk Kay chipped in six apiece.
As a team, the Cyclones shot 19-of-48 (40%) in the win and tallied 14 steals, including a team-high five from Short.
In the girls’ game, the WyoPreps.com Class 1A No. 2-ranked Lady Cyclones rolled to an eighth straight win defeating the Class 2A No. 5-ranked Glenrock Lady Herders 62-22.
A 14-7 Southeast lead after one quarter grew to 30-15 at halftime. The Lady Cyclones held Glenrock to only seven points over the final 16 minutes of the game, while Southeast added 21 in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth to pull away for the 40-point victory.
Junior Kealy Carson led Southeast with 19 points, while junior Sydney Anderson added 12. Junior Brenna Herring had 11, and sophomore Baylie Booth had 10.
The win improves the Lady Cyclones to 19-2 on the season, earning them a No. 1 seed for this weekends 1A East Regional Tournament at Willi Gym in Torrington.
The Southeast (10-11) boys open the 1A East Regional Tournament at 5:30 p.m. on Thursay against Midwest (6-12), while the Lady Cyclones play Hulett (3-16) at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
