YODER – The Southeast High School volleyball team gave up only 17 points all night to the Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings on Tuesday evening.

The end result was a match which took about 45 minutes to play and ended with a 3-0 (25-5, 25-6, 25-6) sweep by the Lady Cyclones.

Southeast scored the first five points of the match before the home team gave up a point for being in the net, but a trio of service errors by Guernsey and a pair of aces from senior Kealy Carson pushed the Lady Cyclone lead to 11-3.

In all, Southeast served up 17 aces during the match.

In the second set, the Lady Cyclones scored the first 11 points before Guernsey scored two in a row, and the third set was much the same with Southeast scoring the first seven points en route to the sweep.

Senior Brenna Herring led the team with nine kills, while senior Sydney Anderson had seven. Carson, junior Kylee Llewellyn and senior Shelby Ekwall had four each. Anderson also led the team with six aces, while Carson had five. Llewellyn and Herring had one solo block each, and Anderson tallied a team-high five digs.

The Lady Cyclones (10-5 overall and 4-0 in the 1A Southeast Quad) host the Rock River Longhorns (8-4 and 2-1) at 5 p.m. Friday.
